Avian Biology

Prerequisites: Six semester hours in Biology
Offered:  Spring, even years

This course consists of two one-hour lectures and one three-hour laboratory each week. Lectures cover major topics in avian biology including evolution, anatomy and physiology, life histories, behavior, and conservation. The laboratory portion of the course includes identifying birds with molecular methods, vocalizations, and sight. We will take Saturday morning field trips to identify common species of Texas birds in different habitats.
